Using Tables for Better Content
Organization
 | Table give a lot of flexibility in
arranging in organizing your images and texts on your web pages. |
 | Tables can contain hyperlinks, graphics,
text, forms, Front Page components, bulleted lists, bulleted
hyperlinks. |
 | You can make the table border visible or
invisible. |
 | All major browsers support it. |
Setting Up a Table
 | Plan the organization of your data on a
page before you draw a table. |
 | From File Menu select New, Page, Normal

 | From Table Menu Select Draw Table |
 | The Tables Toolbar becomes visible |
 | Drag the Table Drawing Tool in the
Workspace |
 | Release the mouse button |
 | You will see your table on the page |
 | Drag the Table Tool inside to split the
table into rows and columns. |
 | Drag the cell borders to resize table
cells, rows, columns. | Up | |
Inserting a Table Using Table Menu
If you do not want to use the Toolbar, you
can still create your table using the Table Menu.
 | Select Table menu |
 | Select Insert, Table from the Table Menu |
 | You can specify how many rows and
columns you want in your table. |
 | You can also specify the border size,
its default alignment, its width and things like that.

Using the Table Menu
You can use the Table Menu to split cells,
delete cells, modify properties of the table. | Up |
Modifying the Properties of an Existing
Table
You can change the properties of an
existing table in the following manner:
 | Right click an existing Table |
 | Select Table Properties |
 | Table Properties Dialog Box appears |
 | You can change border color, background,
alignment and several other things. | Up | |
Deleting a Table or Parts of a Table
 | To delete a Table, Click inside table,
Choose Table Menu, Select Table, press Delete key. |
 | To Delete rows, columns, cells, Choose
Table, then Select column, row or cells |
 | With the row, column, cells selected,
Choose Table, Delete cells. | Up | |
Adding Rows and Columns
Sometimes, you will need to insert rows and
columns to your tables to makes more room for your data. To do that
 | Click inside the existing table |
 | Choose Table, Insert, and either rows or
columns |
 | Specify the number of rows and columns
you want to insert |
 | Choose okay. | Up | |
Adding and Formatting a Caption
To add a caption to your table
 | Click inside the table |
 | Choose Table, Insert, Caption |
 | The Insertion point moves right above
the table |
 | Type your caption here. |
 | You can move your caption up and down by
right clicking and selection Caption properties. |
 | Change the font color, type, size in
normal text formatting manner. | Up | |
Inserting A Table into an Existing Table
You can insert a table within a table. This
opens up an entire new set of possibilities of organizing your data. Click
inside an existing table. Choose Table, Insert Table. Set your table
properties.

Splitting and Merging Cells
Sometimes, in order to arrange your data
the way you want it, you may need to split cells or merge cells. To split
a cell
 | Click inside a cell |
 | Choose Table, Split Cells |
 | You can split the cell into rows or
columns |
 | Choose a number and Okay |
To merge cells together, selects cells and
 | Choose Table, Merge Cells. | Up

Modifying the Table's Appearance
Adding Headers
 | Click inside cell/cells |
 | Right click |
 | Select Cell Properties |
 | Check Header Cell Check box, Click Okay |
 | Type Header text in the cell. |
Aligning The Contents of a Cell
 | Click inside the cell |
 | Right Click |
 | Select Cell Properties |
 | In the Cell Properties Box, adjust
Horizontal, Vertical alignment. |
Using No Wrap
 | Prevents the contents of a cell from
wrapping in browsers |
 | Right click cell, Select Cell
Properties, Check No Wrap. |
Adding Colors and Backgrounds to Tables and
Cells
 | Select Table or Cell |
 | Right Click, Choose Table
Properties/Cell Properties |
 | Choose Color from the color palette. |
 | Table Properties will change the color
of the entire table |
 | Cell Properties will simply change the
property of the selected cell.

Inserting Page Elements into A Table
You can use anything that you would normally in the Front Page Editor -
text, graphics, hyperlinks, components, forms. Use normal editing
techniques.
